REDESIGNING CAD CONCEPTS FOR 3D PRINT
 
Commencing with the CAD designs for the Mars MagLev Shuttle, it was necessary to reprocess each component for potential assembly into a large prototype model. Each part had to be suitable for printing with at least one surface flat enough for orientation and adhesion onto the 3D Printer's heated bed....and also capable of seamless reassembly on completion of printing. This meant slicing the model down into manageable pieces, that would both fit the dimensions of the printer's working space, and be completed within at most a sixteen-hour supervised print run.
